One of the tough things about politics is you assume, since you SO believe what you know is universal truth, that everyone who is paying attention thinks like you 9it's easy to believe when you're in the church)
With that in mind, let me say that I am totally behind Barack Obama and have done a lot of work to open the office and register voters and put out the word about this great man.
Pennsylvania is going to be really important and we need lots of help over the next two months if we are going to have any chance at all of fixing the mess that we're in.
Come on down to the HQ @ 10th & French and see how you can help. YES WE CAN with YOUR help !
No one ever answers why he is qualified; they say what he's for but never what he has done. I'll wait here bitterly clinging to my guns and religion waiting for a real answer.
Matt isn't going to respond.
Party hacks just don't care about anything other than the little 'd' or 'r' next to the name of a candidate.
America gets what it votes for, we as voters have no collective courage to vote outside the two main parties and so we get what we get every 4 years, mediocre men who all share the same traits and policies with very little difference, and thus very little change.
NObama, keep the change.
don't construe that as a McCain endorsement, that is your bias, not mine.
You asked his qualifications and I showed you two (or three) places where you can find that answer.
Truth is experience is important but it is not the end all, be all. What Obama might be lacking in experience, he more than makes up in intelligence, ability to understand the issues, the ability to identify qualified people to serve in office, and has shown to have the temperance and ability to be president as the last two years of campaigning has shown.
No politician is flawless and to err is human. With this in mind, Obama still shines over McCain who is simply lack luster. Also I find it hypocritical that Republicans are criticizing Obama for lacking experience when VP nominated Palin lacks experience as well but will be within a 72 year-old mans heartbeat away from the presidency.
Gosh,
did you hear him yesterday? complaining about the Muslim issue? He's the most skin thin politician I've ever known.
Ironic thing is, Republican don't like him based on issues, its the bigoted democrats that are finding and making up reasons not to vote for him.
He knows that, but he wants to smear the Republicans with this.
Anyways, what's the point of contention? Bush and any reasonable person has been saying how true Muslims are peaceful and that the radical Islamic terrorist are the exception, not the rule.
What's he got against Muslims? Is this the traits we want in a President?
Loving the discourse on the presidential race...with all due respect to all the views expressed concerning the two main candidates for the office of President of the United States-Senators John McCain[R] and Barack Obama [D]~Qualifications for the Office of President according to the US Constitution Article II Section I No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of the President;neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty-five years, and been fourteen years a resident within the United States.
Perhaps, the framers of the Constitution wanted to place as little restriction as reasonably possible on the qualifications for the office of President. As to the experience question, it is up to each eligible voter to decide what constitutes adequate experience for the job. I believe that intelligence [both academic and emotional intelligence]is a more vital factor for the job. I have met many people who have experience in a position and have not really learned to apply that experience in a positive way to their position. Perhaps, we should be talking about common sense; an abstract quality that at times appears lacking in many political candidates in my opinion.
Good debate with strong emotions both ways.
For the record- I am not a party hack !
I see good points in both party lines -although besides CUTTING TAXES, I don't remember the GOP being about change before!
Experience is a relative thing. Experience helping people more like you + me. Experience with wrong headed war mongering inept rich people.
I'll take the first type of experience. But that's just me. Judgment, character, and integrity are what I see as Obama's strengths and that is what is going to win him this election. Good luck with people identifying with 12 house McCain.
Just how bad are things under Bush? Unemployment lower on average than under Clinton. No bogus industry growth skewing the numbers (the dot coms). No terrorist attacks since 9-11. Who would have thought 7 years ago that there would have been no other attacks? The "endless war" has liberated almost 50 million people and has had one tenth the casualties of Vietnam.
Granted we've had HUGE government growth ( No child left behind, and the medicare prescription drug program) and I am not happy about how much I pay in taxes but I am better off than I was 8 years ago.
I am not a big McCain fan but sending the single most liberal Senator in the Senate who's running mate is WAY more qualified than he is just doesn't make sense.
If it is posted then it was a fair thing to do. If it is not posted then it becomes a bit trickier. But common courtesy says, "hey, I don't own this property so I am not going to use it as my own."
It could have been any towing company.
There are public lots all over the city.
